At Bikes Mwerre, we believe bikes are more than just bikes. They create connection, movement, confidence, wellbeing and opportunity for young people and communities across Central Australia and the Northern Territory.
Every year, we work alongside communities, schools and councils to repair, build and gift bikes to young people in remote regions. These bikes help young people stay active, connected to culture and community and engaged in positive activities.
Now, we need your support to take this work further.
We’re Fundraising for a custom purpose built bike trailer that can withstand remote roads
Bikes Mwerre is raising $20,000 to purchase a custom-built bike trailer capable of safely travelling remote Northern Territory roads year-round.
Long distances, rough conditions, and extreme terrain place constant strain on standard equipment and make transporting bikes across communities difficult. A purpose-built trailer will help us reliably deliver bikes, repairs, workshops, and outreach across remote and regional communities — safely, consistently, and sustainably.
Why It Matters
For many young people, access to a bike means access to movement, connection, confidence, skill-building, and positive community spaces. This trailer will strengthen our ability to show up consistently, respond to community requests, and continue delivering programs across the NT.

Through our programs, we’ve already seen the impact bikes can have in communities across the NT — from Alice Springs to Tennant Creek and surrounding remote communities.
